The Mitsubishi Research and Design America group did a Mitsubishi Owners Day in California last April. They had a huge turnout with over 500 cars attending! So now they are doing it again!! This time the MRDA group is teaming up the the Mitsubishi plant in Normal, IL to have a huge show at the factory. The details:
What:
- A Mitsubishi Owners Day for all Mitsu enthusiasts
Where:
- At the Mitsubishi plant at: 100 N. Mitsubishi Motorway, Normal, IL 61761
- Map: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=100+N+Mitsubishi+motorway&csz=normal%2C+il&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=
When:
- Saturday, October 22nd, from 10am to 3pm
Why:
- Because Mitsubishi would like to thank all of there loyal owners out there.
- It also shows the decsion makers out there just how much we care for our cars, and who knows, maybe we can influance the future of Mitsu cars.
Other activities include:
- Showing off your ride and checking out the hundreds of other cars.
- The EVO 9 and other concept vehicles will be on display. Past and present ones.
- Tour the Mitsubishi Plant. See how your favorite Mitsus are put together.
- Check out the latest products from various vendors that will have displays.

Somehow I think if I ever got within 100ft of a Mitsu Employee I would have be Restrained from Telling them what I think of the 2G 7 bolt motor. I am guessing I may Involve me and a Police escort. I think i will just stay home instead.

LOL. Eagle never really had there own identity anyways. They were always rebadged something else. Obviously all Mitsu made cars are invited to this thing. Even the birdy cars. :P

brian

Total Est. Time: 3 hours, 35 minutes Total Est. Distance: 218.48 miles taken from http://tinyurl.com/ahrfh
That route takes you right through Delavan, where Nick and I would join

curt_gendron, How far is the drive for you?
One way is about 490 miles for me. I'll be trailering one of my 3/Ses down there. I might be caravanning down with some Minnesota guys. We'll have to see. I'm guessing you guys will want to drive a little faster than my truck and trailer will want to go. ;)
Some of the EVO guys are getting a caravan going from the Milwaukee area too, if you want to join them. They have a thread here:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=159829
That might get too big of a caravan. Who knows?
Glad to see there is some interest. This is going to be awesome!!

Yep, you can.
A little update... I've found out that AMS (AutoMotorSports) will be one of the vendors at the MOD event. They are a huge EVO shop in Chicago.
I'm hoping to get some more information on vendors and the list of concept cars that will be there. Stay tuned...

Hey everyone,
Another update... Here is a list of vendors that I know about:
AMS (as mentioned before, they are bringing several of there shop cars along, including one super fast EVO)
Buschur Racing (stopping in Normal on their trek to Vegas for SEMA)
WORKS (out of the Bay area in San Francisco- they might get the long haul award!)
TRE (out of Michigan, tranny specialists)
There will also be food vendors there, so don't worry about trying to find lunch. Hope to have some more updates in the days to come.
Thanks,
Curt

Hey guys, registered here because of this thread...
I've already got a HUGE Evo Convoy organized and would love to have the DSM guys join us.
Here's the inital plan:
AMS (Automotosports) is going to be hosting a mini-meet the night before for all of us coming down from WI and to meet those who are going to be joining us on the drive down from there Saturday morning.
I will be coordinating rooms at a local Motel 6 to stay over. Approximately 7am, we're going to be leaving from AMS to drive towards Normal. Along the way, one of the fellow EvolutionM.net members may be hosting a breakfast for us, which is always great.
I suspect we already have 30-40 Evos and other Lancers/Eclipses setup for this convoy. The more is always merrier!
Anyone interested?

Hey guys,
Sounds like every hotel room is booked in the Normal/Bloomington area. You know what that means? The towns are going to be overrun with Mitsus. LOL. Should be a really fun weekend.
I'll have my black 3000GT VR4 Spyder down there. Come and say hi. I'll be running around with two shelties and wearing something that says Minnesota 3/S.

OK, gallery is up: www.theringbergs.com/mod05.html
Pics speak for themselves for the most part.
Pics 51 and 52 are Buschur's 4G.
pics 76 and 77 are the convertible 1G--notice dual sets of window switches.
pics 81-84 are AMS's Evo Lander.
pics 87 and 88 are of a car that won "Best Paint"
pic 91 is the obligatory shitty 1G.
pics 104 and 105 go together, the model was in the trunk of the car. They sort of matched, but not really.
pics 109-112 are two pairs. The first pair is apparently Jake from Top Street's 1G. The second pair is a wheel on my car. The wheels match betwen my car and Jake's car.
pic 125 was on Buschur's white EVO. I wanted to ask him about the possibility of a 2006 shootout, but I didn't want to be "that guy".
pic 126 is an example of a shirt that I wanted, but they weren't selling them.
pic 127 is some big wig at the plant that was calling out the number for the giceaway. We didn't win anything. :(
pic 128 is really of the dogs--Mitsu and Bishi. Curt Gendron's dogs, in fact.
pic 129 is the lone Starquest, which just so happens to belong to a member of WIDSM. :woot:
A few miscellaneous facts:
Only Mitsu plant in the US.
2.1 Million square feet.
only about 2/3 the size of most plants, due to the fact that they use "Just-in-Time" Inventory
each car has more than 4400 spot welds.
It takes two days or two shifts to complete one entire vehicle.
~1400 employees right now, was at ~3000 when there were two shifts.
Robots do all of the welding and install the larger parts -- instrument panels, tires, etc.
3 models currently made there -- Eclipe, Endeavour, and most of the Galants. They'll start production of the Eclipse Spyder when that comes around.
They gave away a shirt, a hat, some miscellaneous promo items, and a Pen that says DSM on it. I like the pen the most. :woot:
They also had free food. Yum.
