I have done it. I bet you are wondering if you can do it and keep the tranny in right? Well... you can't. Not unless you strip the front of the motor off including the front case. I did it this way with my blue 95 talon. I planned to strip the motor down anyway so it didnt matter to me.

Well, now come to think of it, I bet it wouldn't be nearly as tight with an Auto. You dont need to clear the clutch from the bellhousing like I did. You will prolly still need to have all the acc. off including the water pump though.

In reply to pnads post,

I would like to pull the entire motor out in one.
Tranny/Block/Acc's/Belts etc.

The head is already off the block, but the PS/ALT/AC are still on, along with belts.

I would like to pull it all out together, swap all my stuff onto my new block (head/timing/acc's/belts/tranny/ and turbo if I can.) Then drop the entire thing back in.

Think thats possible? I did it with 1g's all day long :-)

I have done it, but I will not do it again. I had to tilt the motor/tranny about 45deg to get it down, drop it way low with the car in the air. Next time I will just have tranny on ground, drop motor to tranny and then lift both up together.

FWIW, on my 93 GSX with ABS (definitely COULD NOT pull the engine/trans straight out) I was able to get the engine and trans in together by just sliding the trans in under the ABS then pushing it a little farther into the wheelwell, then dropping the engine down. I had an engine tiltler, which is AKA a balance bar. It worked great.

Dont be too concerned about tilting the crap out of your motor. I would much rather do that than have to bolt an engine to a trans in the car, especially a 2G and especially an A/T.

I swear on my 93 TSi AWD A/T I needed a stick of dynamite to get the engine and trans apart.

Honestly the easiest way to pull it is drop it from the bottom. But unless you have a lift that's kind of impossible. Hmm. I'm gonna have to agree with Arnie and Beergeek. Your just gonna have to be patient and tilt it around till it comes out. Just keep checking everything making sure it's not breaking stuff.

My 2 cents.

bri dont pull the trans i have pulled my share of 2g motors out of autos and you can pull the whole motor complete. but you allready have the head of so its all good its easy. go under the car and pull the 4 bolts out of the stall and the bolts around the trans and you can lift it right out . the first time i pulled my gsx motor i didnt even use a cherry picker i pull the motor out by hand.

By hand? That's kind of amazing. Superman we got here.

I've pulled blocks by hand, but I had to strip everything off them first.

You do what you gotta when you don't have a cherry picker or a chain hoist.

I've done it in a 1g I was stripping.. Took the head off, crawled in bay and lifted it out.

Tanin has done it as well, he even has battle scars in his hand to prove it..

Well thanks everyone for the info.

turbo_96awd is local, he came over and we unbolted the tranny from the motor, along with the 4 bolts for the stall, shook them loose, then pulled the motor straight up.

Didnt even have to take out axles or anything, even though I already had them removed =/

So why not throw a 1G throttle body, 1G intake manifold along with that 2G TB Elbow you have on there?
