And nicks would be running weeks ago if....(add excuse here)

Please tell me there is something other than -AN line supporting your regulator.

Jason

yeah besides the fact mine really would have been running :)

Well I wouldnt trust a big heavy regulator to be bouncing along on top of the intake with nothing to support the fitting from a vibration related failure, especially with fuel.

My regulator is securely mounted to the fenderwell.

If you had a bracket welded to the intake to support it, it would be fine. No way I would trust my life to it without some sort of support.

Just because Albert jumps off a bridge, would you?

well alot of people run it right off the fuel rail........ ive seen 9 sec cars with it mounted right on the rail nothing wrong with it at all.

who said i was ?

I just dont want to see a nice looking car get burned to the ground because "it worked for xxxx"

I would mount your regulator at least TO something other than just suspend it from thin aluminum that was not designed to support weight. Aluminum is not very ductile and is prone to catastrophic failure if it gets a fracture. 60 psi fuel spraying everywhere would sure look cool.

Albert, while also not doing it right, at least used a thicker walled fitting.

yeah i dunno... i had it mounted on the firewall but i like it here better... its not gonna stay like this long at all.. im upgrading to -8 and using my -6 for a return.. so itll probably only run on the dyno and little bit of street driving like this.

but i know alot of people that DD cars with them mounted like that.

Firewall is not legal

It has to be mounted to anywhere BUT the firewall for NHRA rule compliance.

So change that -AN elbow out for a flexible line, and mount the regulator to the intake manifold. Everybody will be happy. :fruit:

I found your oil line. :-D

Damn, I never noticed that albert had AN vaccum lines to his FPR and BOV. That is trick as hell.

Arnie

Pretty common on the big dollar cars, actually.

Too bad my SSQV doesnt have a threaded fitting.

Most importantly, the vaccum lines dont blow off when youre running wicked high boost pressures. Would suck big time to lose the FPR vac line at 35psi.
I was thinking the same thing about the SSQ! Oh well!

Also, your project is looking good Jason. What kind of $500 radiator is that?

i know this is a noob question but i have -6an ss lines for my oil cooler and i couldnt fit both sleves of SS braid into the fittings. my friend told me to peel back the first layer of SS and then put the fitting on. Looks like crap ,but thats how i have it running now. just curious to how everyone dose them. oh, and yes its also -6 size braided SS line.

sorry dont mean to hi-jack the thread,
Jake

its a C&R radiator.. its the only company that makes a GVR4 specific aluminum radiator.. i was gonna run the koyo but it wouldnt have fit because its to thick.. and i have like no room at all with that C&R. which is like a stock width.

thinner radiators are better for drag anyway. Less water=less weight.
